Acceptance – Monday Morning Motivation

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss acceptance.
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
Acceptance
The five stages of grief are:
- Denial
- Anger
- Bargaining
- Depression
- Acceptance
I can’t help but think that the abundance of the LACK of acceptance is a sign that, throughout society these days, we have a huge case of grief going on! While it may seem strange to think about a state of “cultural grief,” I think it may exist. Stick with me for a bit please.
There is no doubt that we are assaulted each and every day with images and messages that are unpleasant. What I see every day are repeated instances of denial and anger—a tell-tale sign that individuals are grieving.
Furthermore, there’s a lot of bargaining going on as well. People are finding ways to ignore what they don’t like and to settle into their own unique states of reality.
Finally, there seems to be an uptick in the somberness of many. Perhaps its “Covid-Fatigue,” but it’s still a sign that depression is more prevalent.
Which brings us to acceptance. While I do not like much of what is transpiring around me, I have come to embrace the reality of the situations we are facing. That does NOT mean that I am going to go against my values or convictions. But it does mean that I’m going to 1) avoid acting like a ranting, raving lunatic AND 2) avoid crawling inside my shell and isolating. There is too much positive in life to allow for the current “crisis du jour” to rule my life.
Acceptance does NOT mean agreement. It simply means that you acknowledge the reality of the situation. In my opinion, to do so is healthy and wise.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- Are you embracing acceptance in your life?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
Curt
