Monday Morning Motivation – Verb

(Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially)

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement — along with a good cup of coffee! — to start the day.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Verb

As a math and science guy, I often dreaded English.  However, as I went through school I came to realize that without a command of the English language and the written word, life was going to be very difficult.  While life is still very difficult, I’ve come to really enjoy writing and working with the English language

Fortunately way back when I learned that verbs are all about action.  They are what provide the excitement in writing and the excitement in life.

I also learned that nouns are persons, places or things.  Full confession, I think I actually learned this on “School House Rock” as I watched Saturday morning cartoons.  Consider the following “nouns”

  • Man
  • Child
  • Dog
  • House

While they all bring images to mind, they’re really pretty boring by themselves.  But combine them with a verb and the world changes as action emerges:

  • The man thrives
  • The child grows
  • The dog plays
  • The house sparkles

Each of us needs to realize that we can only thrive when we “embrace the verb” – when we take action!  Until then we simply exist.  When we bring a verb – or action – in to our lives, things get exciting and life emerges.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • What verb would you like to start incorporating in to your life?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning and I wish you all the best for the week.
