Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss action.
Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.
A number of years ago, I read a book called Five Frogs on a Log. The title came from the following question:
- Five frogs are sitting on a log. One decides to jump off. How many frogs are left on the log?
The obvious answer is four; however, closer reading of the question shows that this is NOT the case:
- The frog only DECIDED to jump. There is no indication that the frog actually jumped!
Many, many, many people like to think about “what they would do.” However, many, many, many people DON’T actually do anything. They prefer to play it safe and stay in their comfort zone.
- Nothing happens until we take action; or, to put it another way, choosing to do nothing is an action—albeit often not a very productive one!
I’m not suggesting that it is a good idea to act rashly or without appropriate thought. However, after you have thought through the options and weighed the pros and cons, you need to make the decision and take action.
Will it always turn out perfectly? Nope. But living your life in fear of what might go wrong is no way to live—in my opinion!
That brings us to this week’s question:
- Are you taking action that moves you towards your goals?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
