Monday Morning Motivation – Gentle

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "gentle."

Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.

Gentle

At the risk of being stereotypical, I’m going to direct today’s post at the men in the audience. You know, the big, tough guys who muscle through things? The ones who see being gentle as a sign of weakness. The ones that don’t get it!

In general, we reward individuals in society for a “get it done” / “take no prisoners” attitude. It’s all about the results—even if that means a few hurt feelings. Unfortunately, hurt feelings are WAY more painful than the bruises that come from physical confrontations.

Think about it for a minute . . . Once an event has passed, where does it live? The answer is in your mind. And while a bruise on your arm will go away with time, often a bruise in your psyche will linger on for an indefinite period.

I am not advocating the “we’re all buddies” mentality. Life causes us to make tough decisions, and these decisions always have consequences. However, as you pursue your goals, you may be well served to ask if you are doing so in a manner that is too harsh.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • Are you being gentle enough?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!

Curt
