I heard something really insightful the other day:
- We adapt to those things that we cannot afford to change.
This one cut really deep as I like to think that I can and do ALWAYS change when I recognize a shortcoming. But the reality is, sometimes I’m “too cheap” and adapt versus change. Sometimes that is alright. Other times, not so much. Because not changing involves a cost…
The key point is that we each make decisions about when to and when not to change. If the cost is too great, we adapt. However, when we do adapt, there is an opportunity cost that we incur.
That brings us to today’s question:
- Can you afford NOT to change?
