Monday Morning Motivation – Affirmations

Monday Morning Motivation (December 18, 2017) – Affirmations

(Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially)

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement — along with a good cup of coffee! — to start the day.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Affirmations

We are closing in on the end of 2017 and the start of 2018.  For the next six weeks, I am going to steal shamelessly from Hal Elrod’s “The Miracle Morning”.  In the book, Elrod suggests six things that you should do to start each day.  He suggests that you will be massively more productive AND happier as an individual if you take on his challenge and perform these six things at the start of each day.

I have incorporated all six into my routine – although one of them I shift to later in the day AND one of them I don’t do as regularly as I should.  And, NO, I am not going to tell you which ones these are.

Hopefully you can take away an idea or two over the next few weeks that will help you to end 2017 strong and start 2018 even stronger. Have an awesome week!

Back in the 80’s there was a Saturday Night Live skit where Stuart Smalley made fun of the folks that embrace the concept of positive affirmations.  Now, please DON’T email me and remind me that Stuart was played by Al Franken!!!!  I am aware and I am not endorsing Mr. Franken’s politics or behaviors!

While the skit was funny, it was WAY off base.  Positive affirmations are INCREDIBLY helpful.  Think about this for a minute – after an event takes place, where does it live?  Answer?  It lives ONLY in our mind.

And the reality is what we have in our mind can and will shape us.  Just like experiences can shape the way our mind functions, so too can affirmations.  I like to think of positive affirmations as the care and feeding of my mind.

That brings us to this week’s question

  • Are you flooding your mind with positive affirmations or self-defeating negativity?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning and I wish you all the best for the week.

Curt

(Note:  Each week I publish “Monday Morning Motivation” in the hopes that one person will find a bit of inspiration and that inspiration will have a positive impact on their life.  My motivation comes from experiences, reading, sermons, and discussions.)
