Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day.
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
With each passing year the word “purpose” is moving more and more to the forefront of society’s mind. This is to be expected. We live in times that are unmatched in regard to quality and ease of life. And yet so, so many people are struggling to find happiness.
Individuals the world over continue to move up the economic ladder, but down the ladder in terms of personal satisfaction. In my mind, this is because of a mis-alignment between the “heart and the hands.”
To move up the economic ladder, we normally need to develop and enhance the skills that allow us to WORK in positions that are more valuable from an economic sense. However, providing value to OTHERS economically is no guarantee that we will provide value to OURSELVES when it comes to those things that energize us as individuals.
I am in no way, shape or form, suggesting that we each need to focus more on ourselves. Quite to the contrary, I would make the argument that when we take the time to look deeply within ourselves to our personal purpose, we’ll likely find that “What is my purpose?” is only a relevant question when framed in light of the impact that we can and will have on others.
Impact on others is what I would refer to as significance. And, in my mind, we can only achieve a sense of peace when we identify our purpose (heart) and then align our actions (hands) with that purpose.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- Have you taken the time to consider your purpose?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
