Monday Morning Motivation – Pessimistic

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "pessimistic."

Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.

Pessimistic

There is very little to be gained in viewing life through a pessimistic lens. Now I’m NOT saying that things are always “rosy” or easy. They are not. However, always looking at the negative side of things is just not healthy, in my opinion.

Furthermore, I’m a MASSIVE believer in the following basic principle from Stephen Covey:

  • All things are created twice. First mentally, then physically

If I believe the above, and if I’m stuck in a pessimistic mindset, I’m going to produce the poor outcome I’m envisioning.

I try to ALWAYS look at the undesirable outcome; however, I do NOT lock in on this. Rather, I create plans and contingencies that will allow me to navigate around the undesirable. Does it always work? Nope. However, more times than not, by looking at what is possible versus what is not possible, I end up in a pretty good place. Optimism kicks pessimism’s backside all day, every day in my book.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • Are you being too pessimistic?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!

Curt
