Monday Morning Motivation – Sharpen

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "Sharpen."

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Sharpen

“She’s a sharp cookie.” “He’s a sharp-dressed man.” “She is very sharp.”

The word “sharp” generally has positive connotations, so it should come as no surprise that, as you dig into the word “sharpen,” you find that it is related to making something better.

Given my focus on learning new things, growing as an individual, and living life to its fullest, it should also not come as any surprise that I am drawn to this word!

Sharpening takes place in a number of situations. Several of these include:

  • Sharpening a knife or cutting instrument
  • Sharpening your skills or abilities
  • Sharpening the quality of an output

Three things become apparent as you reflect on the above cases:

  • There is a specific entity that is being sharpened.
  • There is a generally accepted process to bring about the sharpening.
  • After sharpening, the entity is more effective than before.

Specific. Process. Effective. If you apply the above recipe to the personal, professional, and spiritual dimensions of your life, I’m thinking things are going to turn out pretty well for you!

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • Are you sharpening your personal, professional, and spiritual dimensions?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!

Curt
