Trust
Let’s start off with a quote from Warren Buffet today:
- It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.
Buffet has captured the essence of trust in this simple quote.
What we can and cannot accomplish—both personally and professionally—is built on a foundation of trust. Each of us has a reputation for what we will do and what we will NOT do. And this shapes the way that others interact with us.
However, it’s CRITICAL to recognize what Buffet did here:
- Building trust is hard. Tearing it down is easy.
That’s why it is so critical to push on and do the right thing even in the most challenging situations. It’s the difficulty of staying true to our convictions that defines us and is the foundation of the trust we have and have built with others.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- What will you do today to build trust personally and professionally?
