Monday Morning Motivation – Renew

(Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially)

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement — along with a good cup of coffee! — to start the day.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Renew

Most of the time when I hear “renew” my mind immediately goes to “library books”.  But there’s another place that would probably be more useful….

We spend a HUGE amount of our time in what Stephen Covey likes to call “quadrant one”  – chasing the “urgent” and “important” tasks in life.  Covey actually lays out four quadrants:

  • Quadrant One – Urgent, Important
  • Quadrant Two – Not-Urgent, Important
  • Quadrant Three – Urgent, Not-Important
  • Quadrant Four – Not Urgent, Not-Important

It’s “quadrant two” where “renew” comes in.  We all know how important it is to take time to step away from the day to day and focus on our personal development or “sharpening the saw” (another idea from Covey).  These renewal activities pay incredible dividends.

And yet we often fail to make the necessary investment in renewing ourselves!

With the above in mind, my question for you this week is:

  • What will you do this week to renew yourself?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning and I wish you all the best for the week.
