Frogs on a log, not taking action

Monday Morning Motivation – Action

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss action.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Action

Let’s start with a riddle today:

  • Five frogs are sitting on a log, 4 decide to jump off. How many frogs are left?

Don’t overthink this. It’s not that hard. What do you say?

The answer many people give is one. Five frogs minus four frogs equals one front. Many people are wrong. The four frogs DECIDED to jump off—nowhere did it say that acted and jumped off.

  • Acting is a lot different than thinking.

While both are critical, nothing happens until we actually take an action. “Paralysis by analysis” is a real thing as many, many individuals are terrified to act, and, as a result, remain in their current state. Sometimes that is not bad. Often times it is tragic.

I’m not arguing that you should act without thinking. I am arguing that, after you spend the requisite amount of time thinking, you need to act. Otherwise you’re going to be just another frog sitting on a log.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • Are you a person of action?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!

Curt
