Monday Morning Motivation – Failure
Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "failure."
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
Failure
Failure and I have an unusual relationship—I don’t really see it as failure.
That doesn’t mean I always succeed. Far from it. I make mistakes, miss goals, and have moments that don’t go the way I planned. But instead of labeling those moments as failures, I choose to view them differently: as lessons that move me forward.
Every setback teaches something valuable. Sometimes it reveals a better strategy. Sometimes it builds resilience, patience, or perspective. And sometimes it simply reminds me that growth rarely happens inside our comfort zones.
The truth is, failing at something doesn’t define us. Staying stuck there does.
I’ve learned that the way we interpret our setbacks shapes how we recover from them. When we focus only on what went wrong, discouragement takes over. But when we focus on what we gained from the experience, setbacks become stepping stones instead of stopping points.
Growth often looks messy before it looks successful.
What some people call failure, I often call progress in disguise. Every challenge leaves behind experience, wisdom, and a stronger version of ourselves. And that’s why I believe that even when things don’t work out, there is still value in the journey.
Maybe the goal isn’t to avoid failure altogether. Maybe the goal is to stop being afraid of it.
Because every experience—good or bad—is shaping who we become next.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- How do you look at failure?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
