Monday Morning Motivation – Logical
Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "logical."
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
Logical
Last week, I left you with a question:
Are you embracing your emotions?
This week, let’s explore the other side of that coin—logic.
Now, fair warning: this perspective comes from someone wired to think in systems, patterns, and probabilities. I appreciate emotions deeply… but I trust logic to keep them in check.
Over time, I’ve started to see people not on a single spectrum between emotion and logic, but on two separate axes—one for feeling, one for thinking.
This creates four natural combinations:
- High emotion, high logic
- High emotion, low logic
- Low emotion, low logic
- Low emotion, high logic
If you pause for a moment, you can probably place people you know into each of these. You might even recognize where you tend to land.
Here’s the key insight:
Emotions give life meaning—but logic gives it direction.
Without logic, emotions can take over. Decisions become reactive. Outcomes become unpredictable. And often, we end up somewhere we never intended to be.
Logic doesn’t eliminate emotion—it grounds it.
It asks:
- What are the likely consequences of this choice?
- What patterns have I seen before?
- What outcome am I actually moving toward?
A healthy approach isn’t about choosing one over the other. It’s about awareness—understanding both your emotional state and your logical state, and letting them work together.
Because every decision carries a probable outcome. Not guaranteed—but likely.
And ignoring those probabilities doesn’t make them disappear.
It just makes the result harder to accept.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- Are you embracing your logical side?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
