Monday Morning Motivation – Advice
Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "advice".
Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.
Advice
The Biggest Myth We Still Believe
One of the most misleading ideas many of us grow up believing—especially men—is the myth of the “self-made” person.
We love the stories of lone warriors who pushed through every obstacle, relying on nothing but grit and sheer willpower.
But let’s be honest…
No one is truly self-made.
Determination matters, yes.
Hard work matters, absolutely.
But none of us walk through life untouched by the people, lessons, or wisdom around us.
We are shaped by our experiences — and one of the fastest ways to gain experience is by learning from someone who has already lived through what we’re facing.
Ignoring that wisdom doesn’t make us independent.
It simply slows us down.
And while we are all unique in our own ways, we share far too many common challenges, emotions, and patterns to dismiss the experiences of others.
The Real Skill: Accepting Advice
Being open to advice is not a sign of weakness — it’s a sign of intelligence.
The people around us carry lessons earned through mistakes, victories, failures, and reflection. When we combine their insights with our own discernment, our learning curve becomes faster and our path becomes clearer.
This doesn’t mean listening to everyone.
It means recognizing that some people in our lives hold priceless wisdom — if we’re willing to ask, listen, and receive.
That brings me to this week’s question:
- Are you willing to accept the advice of others?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
