Monday Morning Motivation – Afford

(Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially)

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement — along with a good cup of coffee! — to start the day.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

I heard something really insightful the other day:

  • We adapt to those things that we cannot afford to change

This one cut really deep as I like to think that I can and do ALWAYS change when I recognize a shortcoming.  But the reality is, sometimes I’m “too cheap” and adapt versus change.  Sometimes that is all right.  Other times, not so much.  Because not changing involves a cost…

The key point is that we each make decisions about when to and when not to change.  If the cost is too great, we adapt.  However, when we do so (adapt) there is an opportunity cost that we incur.
That brings us to today’s question:

  • Can you afford NOT to change?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning and I wish you all the best for the week.
