Monday Morning Motivation – Apathy

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Apathy

Love vs. Apathy: The Real Opposites

Most people think the opposite of love is hate.
It’s not.

Hate, like love, still burns with intensity. It still cares—just in a destructive way. The true opposite of love is apathy. Apathy doesn’t rage. It doesn’t ache. It doesn’t feel anything at all.

When you love someone—or something—your heart is set ablaze. You care deeply. You think about it constantly. It fuels your dreams, drives your actions, and sometimes even disrupts your sleep. That’s why we say “the love of your life.” Love consumes. It matters.

But apathy? Apathy is a slow fade.
It’s when the fire goes out, and you don’t even notice the smoke. It’s when you stop caring—not because you decided to, but because you stopped choosing to.
It slips in quietly, often over time. First you stop showing up. Then you stop thinking about it. Eventually, it’s like that person, passion, or purpose never even existed.

And here’s the kicker:
Love isn’t just something that happens to us. It’s something we choose. Every day.

We get to decide what we care about. We get to refocus our energy. We get to reignite the fire—if we want to. The choice is always ours.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • Are you choosing love or apathy?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!
