Monday Morning Motivation – Teachable

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "kind"

Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.

Teachable

There are some words that make me cringe. Teachable is at the top of this list.

I consider myself to be an outstanding student. I’m always studying things, looking at how to improve, looking at how to help others, looking at how to move from success to significance.

But, unfortunately, I’m often not very teachable!

Being teachable requires a few things:

• A desire to learn
• An open mind
• A sense of humility

I do pretty well on the first two. BUT, I struggle with the third – that probably comes from my Mom who definitely taught me that it’s a good thing to “always be right”! I love my Mom and we have shared a number of laughs about this shortcoming that we both possess. We’re both working – with varying degrees of success – on becoming more teachable in this particular area.

I share the above as ways of showing that even though some may see us as possessing a characteristic (most would say I AM teachable), we all have internal blocks that make it difficult to achieve our full potential. And becoming more teachable is a great way to overcome these blind spots.

That brings us to today’s question:

• Would you be better off if you focused on being a bit more teachable?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning and I wish you all the best for the week.

Curt

About MMM: Each week I publish “Monday Morning Motivation” in the hopes that one person will find a bit of inspiration and that inspiration will have a positive impact on their life.  My motivation comes from experiences, reading, sermons, and discussions.  For the next several months I’m going to be drawing from Zig Ziglar’s book “Over the Top”
