Monday Morning Motivation – Regrets

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "regrets."

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Regrets

Now there’s a word that I’m guessing triggers some feelings deep inside!

My wife recently remarked that there is not a person on this Earth who doesn’t have a sense of regret for something they have done or not done. I think she’s right. Make that: I know she’s right. And I’m not just saying that because she’s my wife!

We all have regrets. Recognizing that is huge. When I was reading a Brene Brown book recently, she shared a quote to the effect of:

  • It’s neither good nor bad. It just is.

Unfortunately, all too often we label our regrets as bad. How ironic is that? Something went wrong. You didn’t like it. So now you’re going to memorialize it by dwelling on it in the form of feeling regret? And how’s that going to change the past? These are rhetorical question in case you had any doubt!

Don’t get stuck in the rut of dwelling on your regrets. Yeah, you screwed up. Yeah, there are consequences. But the past is done and finished. Don’t make it worse by living with regrets and allowing the past to disrupt your peace of your mind.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • Are you holding onto regrets?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!

Curt
