Monday Morning Motivation – Experience

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss experience.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Experience

One Year of Experience... or One Year Repeated?

There’s no substitute for learning through experience. Some of life’s most valuable lessons come from stepping into new situations, facing challenges, and finding your way through them.

But experience alone isn’t enough.

The real value comes from growing through those experiences—not simply repeating the same routines year after year.

If you do the same job, the same way, every day for 30 years, you may not have 30 years of experience—you may have one year of experience repeated 30 times.

That’s an important distinction.

Doing your job well is the foundation. It’s what’s expected. Growth begins when you look beyond the basics—taking on new challenges, learning new skills, solving different problems, and stretching outside your comfort zone.

Real experience comes from:

  • Embracing change instead of avoiding it.
  • Looking for opportunities to learn something new.
  • Taking on responsibilities that push you to grow.
  • Viewing challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles.

Growth isn't always comfortable, but comfort rarely leads to growth.

Whether you're early in your career or decades into it, ask yourself:

Am I gaining new experiences, or am I simply repeating old ones?

The answer can make all the difference—not only in your professional success but in your personal development as well.

Keep learning. Keep growing. Your best experience is still ahead of you.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • How do you define experience?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!

Curt
