Monday Morning Motivation – Harsh

(Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially)

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement — along with a good cup of coffee! — to start the day.

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Harsh

Anyone that knows me knows that I tend to be a bit too direct on occasion.  To me, it has always been more important about what you have to say than how you say it.  So I naturally assumed that’s how EVERYONE looks at things.  WRONG ANSWER!

All too often we get too focused on what we want to achieve and can become harsh with our words and/or actions.  Those closest to you will often seem to overlook the harshness of your words or actions, but inside you can count on the fact that harsh words and actions sting and leaf a lasting impact.  You are much better off to take the time to choose your words carefully and speak kindness.  More than that, OTHERS are much better off when you avoid using harsh words or actions.

There’s a reason that adages exist.  One of the best is:

  • You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar

Now while most of us aren’t interested in catching flies, we certainly are interested in improving our relationships.  Take a tip from me folks, it is MUCH more important HOW you say something than what you say.  That is a lesson that it has taken me way too long to learn.

With that in mind, my challenge to you this week is the following:

  • Are you speaking or acting too harshly to those around you?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning and I wish you all the best for the week.

Curt
