Monday Morning Motivation – Suffering

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "suffering."

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week.  Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Suffering

I am almost positive that every person on the face of this Earth has asked at one time or another why we must suffer. For those who are spiritual, this often leads to the challenging question of why God allows suffering? After all, if God is God, couldn’t He just take the pain away?

The answer to “couldn’t He just take the pain away?” is a definitive yes. That leads me to conclude that there MUST be a reason behind our suffering. And, after lots of time, thought and research, my conclusion is the following:

  • Suffering serves as the catalyst to drive us to learn new things, grow as individuals, and live a fuller life.

The good news here is that out of suffering, comes something better. The bad news is that suffering sucks when you are going through it! For many I suspect that, as you read the words above, it may be difficult or even impossible in the moment to see the learning, growing, or living opportunity that your current state is helping to catalyze. Been there. No fun.

However, over time I have come to realize that going through the toughest, most challenging life stages have helped me to develop massively as an individual. Would I like to go through them again? NOPE! Am I glad that I made it through and have been shaped by them? YEP!

Life is rarely easy and rarely devoid of suffering. However, it’s the “downs” that help us to appreciate the “ups.” And, hopefully, you have had enough experience of ups and downs that you can see that this is a normal part of life.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • Are you using your suffering to catalyze your growth as an individual?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!

Curt
