Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss happiness.
Hopefully, the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter along to others who you think would benefit from the content.
Ever have a friend(s) that resemble Eeyore? You remember him—the “Debbie downer” donkey from Winnie the Pooh? No matter what was going on, Eeyore found a way to paint it bleakly.
Unfortunately, there are people who seem to idolize Eeyore. Or at least it appears that way, given their continual state of unhappiness. To me, this is incomprehensible. Sure, I have bad days and days when things don’t go my way. I’ve had weeks, months and even years where it seemed like the bad days were never going to stop. But, ultimately, they did. Furthermore, even when they did NOT, I stayed focused on the positive AND focused on finding a way to be happy.
Was it easy? Not always. Sometimes it was downright hard. However, I am ultimately in charge of my own feelings and emotions. I can choose happiness regardless of the situation that I am facing. The question is whether or not I am willing to make that choice.
You see, if I allow other people or other situations to dictate my happiness, I have turned over my mental wellbeing to someone or something else. And, I’m not going to do that. I choose when and if I am happy. Happiness is absolutely, positively a choice and NOT a situation.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- What is driving your happiness?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
About MMM: Each week I publish “Monday Morning Motivation” in the hopes that at least one person will find a bit of inspiration and that this inspiration will have a positive impact on their life. My motivation comes from experiences, reading, sermons, and discussions.
