Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day.
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
One of the things that drives me the craziest is when I make the same mistake again and again! While I believe 100% that the best way to learn is vis-à-vis failure, I absolutely abhor relearning by repeating mistakes.
However, over time, I have started to embrace my propensity to repeat certain mistakes. Mind you I am NOT tolerating the mistakes, but I am coming to the point where I realize that repeating a mistake is an incredibly valuable data point.
When I repeat a mistake, it tells me that I have not made the appropriate fundamental shift in my THOUGHT PROCESSES that will lead to the desired change in my behaviors. I am a firm believer that wrong actions come from wrong thoughts. Furthermore, wrong thoughts come from the exposure to wrong ideas. In my opinion, that is why it is so critically important both to focus on “feeding” our minds with the wisdom of those that have gone before us, and to spend time with individuals who embrace a similar growth mentality.
As my focus has shifted from the mistake to why I REPEATED the mistake, I have been able to better modify my behaviors and avoid repeating mistakes as much.
That brings us to this week’s question:
What are you doing to avoid repeating your mistakes?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
