Monday Morning Motivation – Know

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially
Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day.
Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.
Know
Most everyone is familiar with the expression “no pain, no gain.” However, I think that this expression might be much better written as “know pain, know gain.”
“No” has negative connotations—connotations of avoiding, absence, and voids. Dale Carnegie suggested that you want to avoid using “no” at all cost as you try and communicate to others. What is interesting is that while we are all familiar with “no pain, no gain,” it still triggers a negative mindset as it focuses on the pain.
When you switch it around to “know pain, know gain,” the framing is put in the context of your understanding of the trial you are facing. It is put in the context of something you can do—very much akin to the message of moving towards things that I shared last week.
That brings us to this week’s question:
- Are you willing to know the pains you face in your life?
Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning.
Have a great week!
Curt
