Respect of the effort

Monday Morning Motivation – Respect

By: Curt Stowers

Sharing Resources to Help You Grow Personally, Professionally & Financially

Sometimes it helps to get a little dose of encouragement—along with a good cup of coffee!—to start the day. Today we discuss "respect."

Hopefully the message below will help you get off to a good start for the week. Please feel free to forward the newsletter on to others that you think would benefit from the content.

Respect

Failure is part of life. We all experience it. It is rarely fun. In those moments immediately after failure, we must face others. Often the others we must face are some of those who are most close to us—colleagues, friends, and family.

In those moments, HOW these individuals treat us will often shape our relationship for the immediate and sometimes even the long-term. And perhaps the most critical aspect of how we treat others in moments where they fail is that of respect.

We can either let them know that we admire their efforts and perseverance. Or we can choose to tear them down and point out their faults and flaws. One path (respect) leads to strengthening relationships. The other (condemnation) leads to tearing down relationships. We each make our decision on how we will respond to failure—with respect or condemnation.

That brings us to this week’s question:

  • Are you treating others with respect or condemnation?

Thanks for sharing a bit of your time with me this Monday morning

Have a great week!

Curt
